Black Rock Bijou

After discovering it far out in the desert, this quickly became my favorite sight to visit in Black Rock City this year: a fully functional movie theater in the middle of nowhere. Kind of fascinated me. Showtimes were at midnight, 2, and 4 in the morning. One morning I actually made it in there. You get candy for free and have the choice between regular theater seats and comfy sofas. This is all the information I got. Besides the fact that there was a coupling couple right behind the building while I took this picture.

And did I mention that it's closed during the day?

Burner Portrait XI

Just returned from Burning Man. This time I'm posing myself. Should be legitimate as I'm a burner myself after all. Steffi (who is now also a burner) took this picture. At a crazy place like Black Rock City, it seemed nearly impossible to me to create any sort of attention by simply being dressed in a certain way. However, in a world where naked guys in tutus are a perfectly normal thing, a guy in a suit apparently becomes a head turner. I wasn't expecting this. Suddenly people followed me to talk to me or photograph me. By the time a hardcore looking burner stepped down his vehicle and kindly asked me to "slowly walk towards the camera" my Burning Man world was somewhat turned upside down. Shortly later I took this off, grabbed my camera and went back to business as 'usual'. More pictures will follow.

Fishing at Cape Kiwanda

On the road since three weeks now. It couldn't be any nicer. Traveling through Oregon is one big treat satisfying almost all of my photography appetite. Also my appetite for donuts, fudge, steak, fried fish, and what not. ;-)If you don't hear from me this week, I'm in a remote Nevada desert together with 60,000 very crazy, very creative and very lovely people. One of them being Steffi. I can't wait seeing how she perceives and captures all that.

South Street Market

Having a hard time catching up with my blog while visiting New Jersey/Philly/New York. Steffi and I are all over the place and when not I'm either enjoying playing chess with my friend or with their doggy. I mean, fetch or whatever. Not chess. With the dog. This one is from walking Philly one night. Taking off to Oregon tomorrow for road tripping down the coast - slowly approaching Burning Man.
